Here is a step-by-step guide on the easiest way to change colours:
Step 01
Knit to the point of your project where you want to make your colour change. Tip for beginners: Practice the colour change with 2 contrasting colours, such as black and white on a small sample project, so you can save mistakes and corrections in your actual project.
Step 02
Our colour change should now take place in the next stitch. Insert the knitting needle into the next knit stitch.
Step 03
Now cross the two threads. To do this, take the thread in the current previous colour and place it on the left side.
Step 04
Hold the previous thread with your left hand and use the knitting needle to pick up the thread with the new colour for embroidering.
Step 05
Knit the stitch as normal with the new colour. Now there is a stitch in the new colour on the right knitting needle.
Step 06
The colour change on the back must be knitted with purl stitches now. To do this, knit all the stitches on the left up to the point where the colour change is to take place. Insert the knitting needle into the next stitch to purl.
Step 07
The threads are crossed again. Take the thread of the current colour and put it aside.
Step 08
Hold the previous thread with your left hand and pick up the thread with your knitting needle in the new colour to knit.
Step 09
Now purl the stitches with the thread in the new colour as normal.
Step 10
Now you have a new stitch in the new colour on the right knitting needle.
